ROSE,  MATLOCK Passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at his residence in Van, Texas. Matlock was the son of Sam & Pauline Rose of Little Elm, Texas born on August 12, 1924. His wife survives him, LaVerne Johnson Rose, one son Sam Rose of Aubrey, Texas, and two daughters, Julie Gleason of Denton, Texas, Judy Vest of Caney, Oklahoma. Three step daughters, Judy Gee of Prosper, Texas, Jill Mosley of Van, TX and Jerri Gee of Denton. Also survived by one sister, Lylia Coffman of Pt Arthur, TX, six grandchildren, Joy Robinson Warmoth, Kristen Rose-Garrett, Baye Vest, Dillon Vest, Carolyn Parks, and Frank Parks, 2 great grandchildren, Makayla & Coy Warmoth, and several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends from around the world. Visitation is Tuesday, January 8, at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton from 6 8. Services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Covenant Church, 8690 Liberty Rd, Aubrey, TX, at 2:00. Burial will be at Little Elm cemetery in Little Elm, TX. Donations to Alzheimers Research, American Heart Assn., or Cutters in Action in lieu of flowers. A few of Matlock’s accomplishments include a hand full of AQHA World Champions and 5 NCHA World Champions. He’s won the NCHA Futurity as well as 3 NCHA Futurity Reserve Championships, 3 NCHA Derby Championships and 2 NCHA Tournament of Roses Titles. Matlock Rose worked at the B F Phillips Ranch in the 1970’s. In recognition of so many achievements, he has been inducted into the NCHA Rider Hall of Fame as well as the NCHA Member Hall of Fame, AQHA Hall of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. , Deberry Funeral Directors Denton TX 940-383-4200
