Robinson, Lewis Jacob

December 3, 1928-February 24, 2008

ROBINSON, LEWIS JACOB, Age 79, of Plano, TX, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 24, 2008, after suffering a stroke. He was one of eight children, born December 3, 1928 in Plano, TX, to John Wesley Robinson and Mary Elizabeth Price Robinson, a Plano pioneer family. Lewis attended high school in Frisco, TX, where he graduated as valedictorian of his class. He served his country in the United States Army, and then set about building a long career with the United States Postal Service until his retirement. Lewis has been a lifelong member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), in Plano. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner and member of the Plano Masonic Lodge. In 2005, Lewis was presented the Golden Trowel Award for exceptional service by the Grand Lodge of Texas. For enjoyment, Lewis was an avid gardener, often bringing beautiful flowers from his large garden to share with all those he met. In recent years, he has done volunteer work at the Plano Mutual Cemetery. Lewis was a good, honorable man with a servant heart who deeply loved his family and devoted his life to serving others. He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers and their wives, James and Margaret Robinson, John and Irma Robinson, Quentin and Altha Robinson, Leland and Grace Robinson, Vernon and Ann Robinson, and brother-in-law, Frank Hanna. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Hanna of Dallas, TX, his brother, Tom Ellis Robinson and his wife Sharon of Plano, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Ted Dickey Funeral Home in Plano, TX on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 4:00-9:00 pm with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at First Christian Church in Plano. Burial will immediately follow at Plano Mutual Cemetery.
